Richard has lived in the Leeds & Bradford area for most of his life and before being ordained worked in industrial marketing. He is married to Andrea and they have two adult children, Daniel and Ben. In his spare time he enjoys cooking and eating curries, walking in the Dales and watching science fiction series. He has been vicar of St. John's since 2004.
Liz will be your first point of contact if you ring the church office. From the Welsh valleys, she moved 'up north' a few years ago with her husband Tim. They have two daughters, Anita and Darla. Liz loves playing and singing in the worship band and enjoys crafting in her spare time.
Priest with PTO - Rev. Janice Smith
Prior to her arrival at St. John’s, Caroline worked in the NHS for eleven years as an Operating Department Practitioner, in the specialty of anaesthesia, and then as a Peri-Operative Education Practitioner. She studied theology at Bristol and did her ordination training at St Hild, Mirfield. Her hobbies include walking, running, boxing fitness and visiting historical abbeys. She is also an auntie to two lovely boys.
Vicar - Rev. Richard Walker
Originally from the other side of the Pennines, Janice has lived in Yorkshire for 40 years. So still an incomer! Prior to being ordained she worked for HM Revenue and Customs as a tax inspector. After her curacy at St John’s Yeadon, she became priest-in-charge of St Giles Bramhope for 12 years. Having retired in 2018, Janice re-joined the congregation at St John’s. She has 'permission to officiate' (PTO), which means that, although retired, Janice is still authorised to preach and lead services.
Curate - Rev Caroline Brown
Rosemary is currently an ordinand (someone preparing for ordination) at St Hild College, on placement for two years at St John's. She used to be a history lecturer at Leeds Trinity University, and attended St Peter's, Rawdon. She likes walking in the Dales, eating chocolate, writing poetry and reading detective novels
